The pianist and composer Leonora Milà (Vilanova i la Geltrú, 1942) wrote a great deal of her solo pieces for piano in the 1970s coinciding with a period in her career where she was on long tours of Germany, the USA, and Asia either playing solo concerts or taking part as a soloist with various internationally well-known orchestras.
During this time of constant touring and playing, Leonora Milà found the time and inspiration to write a series of piano pieces which, depending on their length, she would play in the second half of her concerts or as an encore.
Some of her works from this period include Sonata per a piano no. 1, Carnaval (first played in the USA), Imatges de la cort del comte Berenguer IV (first played during a tour of Japan) and short pieces like Rondó Brillante (1 and 2), Toccatta, Nocturn and Equitant among others. This sheet music includes, published for the first time, Equitant, Op. 42 (dedicated to her friend, the diplomat Gonzalo Puente Ojea) and Nocturn, Op. 23 (dedicated to pianist Liliana Maffiote).
Two short extremely complex pieces calling for great virtuosity, which have been played by various pianists in recent years. Leonora herself recorded both pieces for her successful album Havaneres per a piano which she released in 1992 (Limit Records - El Far Blau SL RTAC CD 006 (1992 / 2009).
