This collection of traditional folk songs for early music education is intended to instill in youngsters a sense of connection to the folk music and traditions of Spanish culture. It is from this same culture that composers such as De Falla, Albéniz, Granados and Turina drew their inspiration from throughout their composing careers.
Children are brought into the music in an active and participatory way, and they are taught that the most beautiful musical instrument of all is the human voice. Movement is used as a vehicle for internalizing rythmic pulse and memorizing the songs without boredom.
Some of the games consist of dialogues between soloist and group, and between soloists, giving the child the oppurtunity to act individually.
These round games based on Spanish traditional song are an ideal tool in bi-lingual education.
