The original 1972 version is for children´s choir, mixed choir, flute-piccolo, clarinet in B flat, bassoon, French horn, trumpet, percussion 1 (bass drum, triangle, tambourine, bells, sleigh bells, gong and kettledrum), percussion 2 (xylophone, tambourine, celesta or handbells, sleigh bells, cymbal, high hats, bass drum and gong), piano, first violin, second violin, viola, cello and double bass (the string section can be expanded if desired).
