
He was born in Barcelona in 1935, and studied the violin, saxophone, tible (a traditional descant shawm) and other advanced studies at the Barcelona Music School.
He won distinction in the advanced saxophone course. In 1965 he was selected by competitive examination as a player of the saxophone and tible in the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, he later becoming vice-conductor and acting conductor.
As a saxophone soloist, he has performed with the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona and with the Orquestra Simfònica del Gran Teatre del Liceu, and was also a member of the Quartet de Saxòfons de Barcelona.
He was a founder member of the cobla traditional bands Cobla Laietana (1962) and Cobla Municipal Ciutat de Barcelona (1968), he having performed with the latter in various cities in Catalonia, in Madrid and abroad (the United States, France and Turkey). He has made recordings with the cobla bands Laietana, Barcelona and Municipal Ciutat de Barcelona, the Banda Municipal (as conductor), and also with the Orquestra Ciutat de Barcelona, the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra, and the Paris Symphony Orchestra.
He taught the tible from 1966 to 1989 in the Municipal Music School of Barcelona, after which he taught that instrument in the Liceu Music School until 1999.
He also taught the tible as from 1981 in the Experimental Cobla-Music School of the Escolas Pies of Sabadell, and was the conductor as from 1983 of the Cobla Jovenívola in Sabadell.
As musical director of that cobla band, he recorded various cassettes and CDs, and conducted concerts in this country and abroad - in Brussels, Florence, Toulouse, Zurich etc.
He also worked with various cobla bands as guest conductor.
He retired in January 2000.
