Works by
Pere Tintorer
Born in Mallorca in 1814, Pere Tintorer Segarra began his musical studies with Ramon Vilanova in Barcelona. In 1832 he moved to Madrid in order to study with Ramon Carnicer and, two years later, to Paris, where he continued his studies with Pierre Zimmermann. Between 1836 and 1849 he lived in Lyon, where he focused on pedagogy and reportedly received lessons from Franz Liszt.
On his return and until his death in 1891, he was a piano teacher at the Conservatori del Liceu in Barcelona.
His catalogue raisonné includes religious music, works for chamber ensembles and for piano and piano pedagogy works.
His grandson, Gonçal Tintorer (1890-1969), was a pianist and teacher, too.
