Music has an influence on every aspect of our lives and holds at least two great strengths; social cohesion and emotional power. We play and listen to music in many situations such as when we are at school, at work, when we do sport, or for celebrations, and it is used by virtually any kind of commercial or social body. When we actively participate in a musical activity, it affects our brain in a global sense, putting our memory, concentration, motor skills, and visual and emotional capacities to work. But where does this power come from? How do we perceive music? How is this musical experience created in our brains? Why does music have this capacity to create emotional responses? What are the most important aspects of musical education? What potential does it have? How does this learning process benefit us? Why does music have the power to take us back to a precise moment in time? In what fields can music therapy work? Can music be a tool of social transformation?
