Four-part harmony is introduced, only in to the first species. Its aim, thorough study of all the available resources for this species, both through analysis of real life music examples, and practise exercises. The second part offers a section on melody writing, which is intended both as a guideline and as a resource bank for the busy teacher. This section should be accompanied by information on basic chamber music instrumentation, for a more complete study, writing accompaniments to the created melodies.
There is also an analysis section concept study in depth and application, chord extraction, the Sonata, the Fugue, the Prelude, etc. These materials are meant for the study of both the harmony dealt with in this book, and the formal concepts and tools. This book is ideal for intermediate level students, and also for everyone willing to dive deeper in the world of music analysis and creation.
As with the first book, work should be complemented with teacher-guided auditions of repertoire suited to these materials’ level.
