I have always been attracted to mechanism etudes and exercises. A first example was Allegro-Studio for strings, inspired by the work of the great Czech educator O. Sevcik. And a latter example were the Etüden nach Kreutze for string quartet, inspired by Kreutzer’s etudes. Lo studio for piano falls into this category. After an introduction of a reflexive character, a first reference to bars 9 and 10 appears, that will be reaffirmed as of bar 28 with a constant dwindling of tempo.
