This short work was written at the request of Xavier Joaquim ' who is regrettably no longer with us ' for his percussion students at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona (C.S.M.M.B.)
The work's two parts are very different in nature: the first is meditative in mood and bitonal in its musical language, while the second is more contrapuntal and built on acoustic-scale harmonies.
