For the first time, the melodies and basses of Paul Vidal , a principal teaching tool in the work of Nadia Boulanger throughout her entire teaching career, have been compiled by her student Narcís Bonet, former director of both the Conservatoire Americain and the Ecole Normale.
The published format of this compilation by Mr. Bonet is designed to be very practical for both classroom and individual use. It is divided into two volumes, each with a set of two books: one a workbook designed to easily be used by the student, and the other book containing the solutions with explanations provided by Mr. Bonet, who himself has taught these exercises to generations of composers and performers.
