The purpose of this study is to learn how you can effectively evaluate a music program: We have considered this from several angles:· Some countries have had obligatory music education at the primary school level for many years. What do they do when they need to evaluate their programs' When is a good time to do it' How'
· We have gathered opinions on this topic from different teachers, musicians as well as non-musicians alike, and have asked them how they evaluate their individual programs.
· We have listed a number of books and articles on the subject as well as music and curriculum.
After all we've learned, we hope this material will encourage you to reflect on a deeper level about what, when and how to evaluate your music programs. After all, any evaluation must ultimately serve as a pedagogical tool.
To facilitate your reading this material, we think it best to begin with the exposition and analysis of the general concept'evaluation'and then slowly work toward greater in-depth study, taking all the factors involved into consideration, both from a pedagogical point of view as well as a more formal approach.
