The polyphonic treatment of these six popular songs completely respects the character of each
of the original melodies, each of them special, projecting some of their most representative
elements (the modality, the rhytm and even its narrative flow, as in “Allà sota una penya” (Over
there under a crag).
I would like to highlight the essential features of these versions: in the first place, the way each of the
voices is sung, and secondly, the intentional simplicity of the means employed, a simplicity wich makes
these pieces within the reach of a great many choirs.
