To facilitate performance and better-fitting parts, all the semiquaver triplets appearing in the original have been changed to quaver triplets. The soprano and contralto xylophone parts can be covered in various ways. The best way is to use two of each, with the double notes being shared out. If only one instrument is available, only the top line is played, or both together if the player is skilful enough.
The treble recorder part is written out at the real pitch and also in transposed form, players being free to choose whichever form they find most convenient.
To achieve a good balance in the sound, the recorder section should ideally have two descant recorders and two treble recorders.
The best results will be obtained from these arrangements if the ensemble can be formed exactly as suggested.
