Contents

This book is a practical text, a didactic resource explaining the activities (all based on emotional intelligence) that have given us the best results with students of Piano and Chamber Music over the years.
The first part of the book, which is divided into two chapters, provides a succinct explanation of the theoretical framework of emotional intelligence. The evolution of the concept of 'intelligence' is described, along with the main theories of emotion which in our opinion can be most effectively applied to music teaching.
The second part of the book comprises four chapters covering the activities and lesson plans we have developed. As will be apparent, the majority of the activities aim to educate various aspects of emotional intelligence. We have classified them according to the emotional skill they boost.
The book ends with an extensive bibliography and webliography with regard to emotional intelligence, music and education.
