The cantata 'The Country where there is No Memory' is intended for performance by a large choir, particularly in the orchestral version, with a narrator and a tenor or soprano soloist. The ideal ages for the choir singers would be 8, 9 and 10 years, and a great deal of work on the vocal material would need to be done while learning the cantata.
The orchestra, comprising two flutes and piccolo, clarinet, trumpet, cello, piano and three percussionists, is designed with the choir's needs and a coherent ensemble in mind.
The version with piano can be performed with a smaller choir, though it is very important to have a good pianist to lay a secure foundation for the work as a whole.
