...the subject of the cantata, which I liked a lot: a boy doesn't feel well, he feelssick' he is sick. He gets the support of his family, uncles, grandparents, friends, doctors' He goes to hospital, where he is going to stay for a period of time' His classmates want to give him a present and don't really know what' Oh! A dream inspires one of his friends! The best present would be something that doesn't have to be touched, that doesn't get in the way, that doesn't get anybody worked up' A SONG! The most beautiful song for the little sick friend.
This cantata is written for pupils who don't receive any special musical education, but study music at school, and, I can assure you that everybody 'boys, girls, teachers and families' like it.
Technically, it is a cantata with pieces containing canons for one or more voices. But depending on the pupils we are working with, the pieces can be adapted to our needs. The same as the instrumentation, which initially was meant to be for wood quartet 'flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon', but offers possibilities to other instrumental groups such as a string quartet.
